This cemetery, named after an Indian word for Carolina, is the final resting place of 56 Confederate 
dead from the battle of Averasboro.
 

                               

In grateful memory of the brave men who sleep in Chicora Cemetery.

They fought their last fight March, 16 1865.

In memory of North Carolina troops.

The battlefield and museum are on N.C. 82 south of Dunn, close to Exit 71 from I-95.
